The John Weeks Band is a high energy blues band based in Denver, Colorado. John formed the first version of the band in 2013, but the current formation started playing together in the summer of 2015. They have since garnered recognition and awards as one of the top bands in Colorado.
Dark Angel is their 2nd CD release. John released the first one (The John Weeks Band-self titled) in 2014 to very positive reviews both in the US and abroad. This CD has a significantly different flavor and covers more territory than the previous release.
Here are the players:
-John Weeks (guitar, vocals) was born in France and got a lot of his musical chops playing the bars and clubs of Paris in the 1990’s.
-Dan Haynes (keyboard, vocals) is from Dallas, but cut his teeth in the Austin music scene before moving to Australia in the ’90s.
-Stacey Turpenoff (vocals) is from St. Louis and brings killer feel to everything she sings.
-Stephen Whitfield (bass) hails from Ohio. His work on both the upright and electrics are key to the mood, vibe and groove on all the songs.
-Robert Fiorino (percussion, drums) –besides the extraordinary work on the drums–was critical to the arrangement process, especially transitions. Robert is from New York City.
Put it all together and you get a seriously powerful yet melodic sound that is unique to this band.
